SHOOTING RANGE SAFETY RULES
GENERAL LIMITATIONS
- Handgun – 21 yrs old
- Long gun – 21 yrs old
- Minor – must be accompanied by an adult who is 21 yrs old.
- Minors must be at least 10 yrs old.
Welcome to Centennial Gun Club, where we aim to empower new and experienced shooters alike. We’re glad you’re here. Before using the range, all participants and observers must complete the annual range safety waiver. Please watch this video carefully to understand the safety rules before entering the range.
Before Entering the Range
A. Firearms must be holstered or cased when going to or from the range. Never handle uncased or unholstered firearms behind the firing line.
B. Eye and ear protection must be worn before entering the range and at all times inside.
C. When entering the range, make sure the first door closes before opening the second.
Core Firearm Safety
1. Treat every firearm as loaded. Keep the action open and firearm unloaded until ready to fire.
2. Always keep firearms pointed down range in a safe direction. Never point at yourself, others, the ceiling, floor, or walls. Never turn around in the booth while holding a firearm.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you are ready to shoot.
4. Always be certain of your target and what is beyond it.
Shooting Booth Rules
5. Never leave your booth with an uncased or unholstered firearm for any reason.
6. If you brought multiple firearms, shoot only one at a time.
7. Shooters must be “HOLSTER QUALIFIED” by CGC staff to shoot handguns from the holster.
8. All firearms must have sights or optics and must be aimed for every shot. Hip firing is not permitted.
9. Never cross the RED firing line. Ask the RSO for help retrieving any dropped items past the firing line.
Safety Commands & RSO Assistance
10. Report any unsafe behavior or condition to a Range Safety Officer immediately.
11. If you hear the command “CEASE FIRE,” stop shooting, put down your firearm, and back away from the firing line. Do not return or pick up your firearm until “All Clear” is given.
12. For firearm or ammunition problems, keep the gun pointed down range, stay in your booth, and raise your non-shooting hand to signal the RSO.
Ammunition & Range Restrictions
13. Centerfire rifle targets must be set to 25 yards, or 75 feet.
14. Use only the correct ammunition for your firearm. CGC does not permit steel core, steel shot, bird shot, tracer, armor piercing ammunition, BB guns, muzzle-loaders, or black powder. Rental firearms require CGC ammo purchased the day of use.
15. Your own brass may be collected behind the firing line only after your firearm is unloaded, cased, and you are ready to leave. Tell the RSO at the start of your session if you want to keep your brass.
Conduct, Attire & Health Reminders
16. Proper attire is recommended, including closed-toed shoes, high-collared shirts, and brimmed hats. If hot brass touches your skin, keep the muzzle down range, finger off the trigger, and place the firearm on the deck.
17. Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
18. No food, drink, gum, or tobacco is allowed inside the range. Wash your hands after leaving the range and before eating, drinking, or smoking.
As a reminder, CGC only books 1-hour reservations, so please arrive early to make the most of your range time. Act responsibly at all times. Foul language, horseplay, or unsafe activity will not be tolerated. Safety is Centennial Gun Club’s top priority.
